After fucking about with the mastodon python library to make it work with my instance, I worked out how I can swipe all the statuses from hashtags on remote instances without even having an account on them. Because many instances expose them as an RSS feed!
So I grab the status links from each item in the RSS feed, do a fire-and-forget search on my instance, and the status shows up in my timeline. Do I want this in my timeline? Not sure yet. Can I do this in a way that I don't annoy the operators of the instances? Not sure on that one either.
